Race For the Cure!

First off I have to say I am so spoiled by my husband! I am posting this from my new IPad and LOVING it! It is perfect for school and work! And I can now stay better caught up ion things because I can work on them during the day when I have time!

This is what me and my sisters did a few weeks ago to honor my grandma who has survived breast cancer twice!

The day before mothers day we ran in the Susan G Koman Race For the Cure 5k for our Grandma! It was so much fun to do something like that with my sisters and we had a blast! And it was so amazing to see the thousands and thousands of people there racing in memory or to honor someone they love!

We came up with the ideas for our shirts and made them ourselves! Erin's husband Nathan freehanded the ribbon across the front and then I did the designs on the backs and put our names on the side!

We are so happy and thankful that our grandma is still with us and an amazing survivor! I hope that all the money they raised from this will help one day find a cure for breast cancer so that no one has to race 'in memory' of anyone again!

Sunshine and Rain!

I hope you are ready for some super cheesy awesomeness because here it is! So earlier this week it had been super rainy and kinda put me in a poopy mood but Tuesday evening I walked out on our balcony and there was all of this wonderful sunshine coming through the poring rain and I could not help but get a huge smile on my face! The last time I remember the sun shining while it was raining was when Landon proposed to me! So it just took me back to that happy day! I called to Landon to come out to the balcony and I pointed to the sky with a big smile on my face he smiled and gave me a big kiss and said "just like when I proposed!"

So this is how cheesy I am. Some people tell me that it must have sucked to be proposed to in the rain, but I would not have had it any other way! So when I stepped out on our balcony and it took me back to that day I could not help but think how much it related to our marriage. Like every couple we have our disagreements (the rain) but no matter how bad it might get our love is still shining through the storm.

I love my Landon so much and I'm so lucky to have him, he is way way to good to me! And even though we fight sometimes about the stupidest stuff I can never stay mad at him for longer then 5 min, because he smiles at me and says "it much harder to me mad so let's just make up" and we do.

Love you Landon!

A day in the City and a Belated Five Faves for Friday...Edition 4

Weekends are my favorite! Usually Saturday is the one day of the week where I get to see Landon for longer then 10 min.  Normally we just kick back and relax on saturdays and get stuff done around the house but today I just wanted to get out....So Landon surprised me and wisked me off to Salt Lake to have some fun!
.
So we started the day off by finding this cute little sandwich shop across the street from Temple Square, called Hagermann's. It was SOOOO! good I had the best turkey sandwich and cobb salad! Not only was the food amazing but because they aren't open on sunday they had a ton of bread and baked items that would go bad before Monday, So they gave us two loafs of bread, several pastries and brownies and cookies, for FREE! YUM Im so excited for them!
.
After walking around down town we headed up towards the U of U and decided to head up to the U on the mountain. I had never been up there and thought it would be fun to go. After driving up many winding roads we finally found the one that took us up to the U. It was a fun time to go climb up there, and it made me even more excited to graduate next year and get my picture in front of the U in my cap and gown.

.
After that we headed over to The District to the Hobby Lobby (my favorite store) to pick up some fabric for a project Im working on (a post to come about this when im finished). After I had some free movie tickets that I earned at work so we caught a movie. We saw The Last Song, I had read the book and wanted to see it. It was pretty good giving the fact that it had Miley Cyrus in it, but like always the book was better. After the movie we ate at WingNutz, Landon and I have a horribly not good for our health love of wings, and theirs are the best!
.
So it was a great day, spending it with my cute hubby making new memories!
.
Now for my 5 Favorites from the past week, some of these have been updated after such a great day in the city today!
.
Awhile ago I saw a preview for an up coming movie called Eat, Pray, Love and I thought it looked really good. I found out it was based off of a book and so I figured that I would read the book first! I have started reading Eat, Pray, Love, by Elizabeth Gilbert and Love it already, its a good read!
.

After eating lunch here today I am a HUGE fan, their sandwiches and salads were amazing! And their cookies and bread are so delicious! So if you are ever in SLC and want to somewhere you cant get at home stop in Hagermann's Bakehouse Cafe and have a good meal! You can find them on the web HERE.
.

Here is another thing that made the list after our day today. The Hobby Lobby! I love this place, it seriously has everything! I am so excited when I found out that they are opening one in Orem, now I wont have to drive so far to get my Hobby Lobby fix. For those of you Oremites wondering what im talking about, anyone remember the old Circuit City building? Well in a few long months it will be the new Hobby Lobby! CANT WAIT!
.

I saw these at the store the other day and I had to try them. The new Pretzel M&M's are so good! I hope they keep these around because I am already addicted!
.

I am starting to have a serious need for one of these! I keep on having to steel my Mom's to work on all of the projects I want to make. I used to think I would never use a sewing machine because I would never be "Martha Stewart" enough for one...but now Im thinking I might have to give Mrs. Stewart a run for her money!
.
So any new favorite things anyone came across this last week??
Till next time!

I Know Vampires are Cool and all....

As some of you might know I work as a phlebotomist, which in english means that I draw patients blood work all day. After working in said occupation for two years now one thing is starting to bug me.
.
I have poked, stabbed, tortured (or whatever you want to call it) everyone including:
The four year old who kicked me
The twelve year old who was convinced I was going to take all of her blood and leave her to die
The nervous pre-missionaries who just need to turn in their papers
The marine, cop, high school jock alum (or any other "tough"you know) who are terrified at the sight of blood or needles
The much tougher wives/girlfriends/moms/sisters of the previous category
The grandpas who like to hit on me and the grandmas who all think I look just like their granddaughter
Oh and the occasional schizophrenic nut job!
.
One thing my wide variety of patients have in common is most refer to me as Vampire. Granted I do in one way or another suck some (not all) blood from your body, I don't necessarily want to, and most of the time I would rather not see anyone in my lab because then that means I have more time to do things such as my homework. So to my whole point of this, I know the whole Vampire thing is cool now-a-days with the Twilight craze but Im getting a little tired of it. Most who use this is trying to be funny and original, but I hate to break it to you, your not as I hear this a least twice a day. Didn't you parents ever teach you that its not nice to call people names :) So the next time you have the great misfortune to come visit someone like me do both of us a favor and leave the Vampier word at home, and I challenge you to come up with something a little more unique and maybe your phlebotomist will reward you by using the baby needle
