December Catch up!

I used to be able to blog at work when I didn't have any patients but now thatis not the case and so I have been bad at finding time at home to update our blog. So finally after a "relaxing" holiday weekend I have decided its time to update everyone on what has been going on the last month or so of our lives.

First of all we MOVED! We were not planning on moving until January but in the middle of November we found an apt we loved  and had to move on it quick to get it. So we spent Thanksgiving break packing all of our belongings into boxes! Landon thought we could fit everything into 10 boxes!!! He quickly found out that was not the case and you accumulate lots of stuff after being married a year! We moved into our new place on December 1st and had loads of fun hauling all of our stuff up three flights of stairs! But we love our new place and its nice not living below anybody anymore, our apartment is so quiet now that we don't have to listen to noisy kids all the time, we had to buy an ipod dock so we can play music to fill the silence now!

We got to celebrate Landon's 23rd birthday on the 6th of December and my Dad's 50th birthday at the end of November and went and saw the Trans Siberian Orchestra, it was lots of fun. I always like to give him a hard time that he finally has caught up to me! For those of you who don't know I am 10 months older than Landon so I have to poke some fun at him that in two months I will be 24. We also got to go up to Logan and see one of my old room mates get married! It was so much fun to see all of my friends I miss them so much, hanging out with those girls make me smile, we always have so much fun! and to see Ash get married to her best friend reminded me of mine and Landons happy day!

We both finished our our semesters of school with some dignity left! Landon and I were both working full time and taking classes, a first for both of us! It proved to take a little more effort to get everything done but we both managed to get all A's and B's which is good! I have finally finished all of my pre requisite classes and so I will be applying for nursing school in January! Im so nervous to find out if I get in or not, and then to finally figure out what I will be doing for the next few years....Nursing school or Plan B (Not sure what that is yet!).

After finals were done Landon and I kept up our tradition we started and went and picked out a real christmas tree and came home to decorate for christmas! I love having a real tree! It was one of my favorite memories as a kid to go and cut down a tree! We had a great Christmas! We spent Christmas Eve down at Landon's grandmas house with all of Landon's extended family. We had a wonderful dinner, played bingo for some totally awesome presents ( Landon got a slinky and I got a cornbread muffin mix!) and just enjoyed everyones company!  For Christmas we spent the morning unwrapping the presents we got each other. I got some new snowboard boots, some cloths and a great cake decorating book (my new hobby) and Landon got a snowboarding jacket some cloths and all the star treck DVD's which he had been wanting! Then we went over to my families house had breakfast and more presents and then got to talk to my brother when he called home from his mission! Also, Landon's parents and my parents both pitched in a lot and got Landon and I a way nice kitchen table and chair set! Thanks so much we love it! Now we have all of our snowboarding stuff and night passes up to sundance so we can start going snowboarding after work!

We had a wonderful year and cant wait to see what adventures the next one brings! Thanks to all of our family and friends life would not be as enjoyable without loved ones in it! I am so happy to have been able to spend all this time with Landon, loving and growing closer to him over the past year! We have so much fun together!  Love you babe!

Good at living life...bad at writing about it!

I keep telling Landon that I need to get around to updating our blog because we have had so much fun stuff happen in the last month! But when all is said and done I run out of time or end up having homework to finish, and its just one thing after another. So I decided that I would take advantage of a slow day at the office and update everyone on our fun filled last month!

The months keep flying by and its hard to keep track of time. When we got married I decided that every year around our anniversary I wanted to get pictures done so that we can look back on them and see how much we have changed. One of our friends Tamera (Tea Marie Photography) took our pictures this year and did such a great job on them, its been hard to pick witch ones I want printed off.

Landon and I have been married for one year now!!! It has gone by so fast its neat to think back on all the things we have done in the last year and how close we have grown and think of all the wonderful years we have to come! For our anniversary we decided that we wanted to do a cruise... unfortunatly were both in school, and working full time so we had to postpone that untill were out of school for break. So we decided to do something small and just get away for the weekend. We went to VEGAS! It was a ton of fun, we went down on the weekend that the U of U was playing UNLV and so we got tickets to the game, stayed in a nice hotel, ate at some amazing resturants, and went to see the Blue man group! It was so nice to get away with Landon and forget about the stresses of school and work and just remember how much we love spending time with each other!
Landon also surprised me with having some anniversary bands made for my wedding ring, and now it looks absolutly amazing! I love them so much(I will have to post a pic later)! I love looking down and being reminded of what a great husband I have!
October was so much fun! School is going good for both of us, I am actually understanding and doing well in Statistics, and im getting close to being able to put in my nursing school application! Landon got a great new job at UVU. We now get to spend most of our nights together having fun going out, working on projects, catching up on some of our favorite tv shows and just having a good time! I cant wait for Thanksgiving and Christmas, and I am so excited to get to go on our cruise next year! I cant wait to make the next year better than the first!

End of Summer 2009

The last two months of summer have been great and I am sad to see them go. Here are a few fun things that happened during those months. First off I finished off my first and only summer semester of school, and managed to get a B in my organic chemistry class and an A in nutrition. With fall semester I am happy to announce that I am taking my last two pre requisits for the nursing program and I am now currently working on my application to nursing school at the U!!

Me and Landon like to try to work out taking days off together as often as we can because with us both working full time and going to school thats the only time we get to spend with each other. One day we spent the day in SLC and we went to the Rose Butte Gardens, nither of us had ever been and it was a fun adventure. We were some of the only ones there so we were able to spend plenty of time relaxing in the beautiful gardens!
For our 11 month anniversary we got to spend the day at the State Fair. I had not been since 3rd grade and so it was fun to go and see all the booths and animals, we watched a fun alligator show and saw a guy carve a fish out of a block of wood with a chainsaw! My favorite parts were the rabbits (I tried to talk landon into letting me buy one, with no such luck) Landon loved the really fat ones. And the Farris Wheel! It was great to feel like a kid ridding the carnival rides and getting to kiss my cute husband!
Landon surprised me with tickets to a concert for my two favorite singers of all time Brad Paisley and Dierks Bentley! It was a great concert, and Landon acctually has started to like country music now. He said next time we were going to splurge and get the really good seats! It was even fun when it rained and we got to cuddle up close under our blanket and slow dance in the rain!

It was bittersweet to see the summer end but I am excited to celebrate our one year anniversary and plan many more fun adventurs for the year to come! I love Landon so much and everything he does for me! he is such a hard worker and my best friend I always am left wishing I had more and more time to spend with him!

Catching Up!

So its been awhile since my last post and a lot has happened in that time. Here is a breif overview of the last few months of our lives.Landon after being laid of has found a job working sales, In the mean time I went full time at the hospital drawing blood, and also taking the last few classes I need to apply for nursing school in January. With both of us now working and me doing school on top of it we hardly see each other anymore so we have taken some time out to vacation a bit and keep our sanity!

In May we were able to go to South Carolina and visit all of my family that Landon had not had the chance to meet yet. And we were also able to spend a glorious 3 days in my favorite place on earth MYRTLE BEACH! It was so great to show Landon around the place I spent two of the best summers of my life. It made me miss my lifeguarding days at the beach but also realize how many great things I have in my life now!

In July we were able to go to Yellowstone with my
family(minus Brent who is on his mission). It was kinda fun to have the whole family together now that me and my older sister are married. It was fun to go back to Yellowstone and see everything again, the last time we were there I was about 10. Landon and Nathan had both never been to Yellowstone so it was an experiance.

When ever Landon and I get the chance to spend some time togetherwe love it. We love sitting out on our driveway watching the sunset, Or hiking up the canyon that is 5 min from our house. I love being around him, he makes my long days of work and school so much better. I love him so much and enjoy spending my time with my best friend.

MOAB!

So Landon and I decided to take a few days off of work and take a long weekend vacations down to Moab. Landons aunt Marci and uncle Todd have two jeeps and take their kids jeeping over spring break it was a fun filled family vacation. I had never been jeeping before so it was a new expirence for me and I loved every min of it. We took of thursday after it finished snowing 5 inches in Orem and made the drive down.
We took it easy the first day, hiked around on a few trails and soaked up some much needed warm weather. On friday we took off in the jeeps and headed for the rocks. We did the trail called behind the rocks in the morning and went out to picture frame arch for lunch.
Later that afternoon we did another trail called poison spider. We were half way through the trail on our way to an overlook
that drops off 2000 feet into the colorado river when the battery on Marci's jeep most literally exploded....Not Good....We packed everyone into the other jeep and went out to see
the overlook and let the jeep cool down. When we came back to figure out our exit stratagy the jeep cranked and worked fine! We were able to make it back down all the tough spots in the trail before it gave out on us for good. It was now getting dark and we were still stuck so we ended up rolling the jeep the rest of the way down the trail, and luckily made it safely back to town.
On our last day in Moab we did one more trail called seven mile rim, which over looks moab. it was pretty mellow in most spots which was a good change from all the excitment the first two days. I even got to drive for a good portion of the trail. Freaky I thought I was going to killeveryone driving that tank of a jeep but it was lots of fun after I got the hang of it.
The rest of the trail I found the prime spot to sit....On top of the roll cage in the spare tire. It was great and I got a good idea of what it might feel like to ride an elephant!
Over all we had a great trip and a much needed break from all our everyday stresses. Now the jeeping bug has bitten Landon and I we now have the great idea to buy a jeep of our own and fix it up and have it ready for Moab next year! Now I am starting to get excited for our next adventure, In May we are flying out to South Carolina and Landon gets to meed my extended family and see where I spent two summers of my life bumming it on the beach! CANT WAIT!

Easter Fun!

I have always been big on holidays and so for our first year being married I wanted to start making traditions how I want them to be! I was so excited for easter this year to go all out in making Landons easter basket the best ever! Landon is a coke lover for life and so I decided to fill his easter basket around that. He has this idea that coke in bottles is better than anything else so I got him a big case from costco and two old school coke mugs. A new shirt and game for his xbox that he had been wanting for awhile. He loved it and promptly popped a bottlecap off a coke. Landon really went over the top on my easter basket he didnt nessesarly fill my basket to the brim but what he did put in it was perfect. Landon got me a new pair of Maui Jim sunglasses that I had been eyeing since he broke my last pair. Knowing that I love girraffs he got me a new one and put my new shades on him! And then he filled the rest with more peeps then you could think about eating. It was kinda wierd only haveing the two of us on easter, but it makes me even more excited for our future family and filling their easter baskets!

Thank God for Humidity...wish Utah had some...

So almost all last week I have been dying sick, no fun. On wednesday I went to the doctor and was told I had strep...then promptly banned from being anywhere near work. Strep and working in a hospital never works out to well. So I proceded to bore my mind out at home for the next few days. Landon was so sweet, seeing this is the first time I had been really sick since we have been married and he waited on me hand and foot as I got sick on top of my strep compleatly lost my voice, started hacking and weezing and being half near dead on the couch. I love my husband he is the best! Well my saving grace the $15 buck humidifier from walmart that I bought back in college. Me being an avid lover of the southern states and all that comes with it...utah is great but lacks the wonderful humidity! I will swear by it. You dont get as sick with humidity and you can get better faster! Landon was even great with my love of the humidifier and it running 24/7 in our small little apartment making it a sweltering...wet...almost good enough South Carolina in the middle of a summer imitation! Although nothing will be as good but it has brought my voice back and almost cured my cough in a few days, and compleatly gotten rid of my congestion. So when sick and in doubt wondering what to get at the grocery store to cure you...buy the humidifier!

Meeting my Favorite Author, Jodi Picoult!

So a few years ago I found a book written by Jodi Picoult and started reading in....and didnt stop till I had read all the books she had written over the past 15 years or so. Her books are fantastic, and she is by far one of the best authors, I have not found a book of hers that I did not like.  She puts out a book every year and every year I buy it the day it comes out and read it with in a week only to have to wait a whole year for the next one. Well awhile back I heard she was coming to Utah for a book signing! Needless to say there was no way I was going to miss meeting my favorite author! So I drug Landon with me and we made the trip to SLC with my favorite books in hand ready to meet Jodi! She did a reading from her new book, which was really cool to hear her read her own book. Then she took questions from the audience about her upcoming books, the movie My Sisters Keeper that is based off of one of her books and how she comes up with her stories and does her research. It was by far one of the coolest things ever to hear how my favorite author has written these awsome books. After all that she sat to sign books. I brought two of my favorites for her to sign. I wanted to get a picture with her but they would not let me so landon took this while she was signing my book! I got to talk to her one on one for a min  SO COOL! She was absolutly amazing, so well spoken and she does everything herself, she doesent have a staff to do her research it she goes and lives the life of the people she is writing about, I only wish I could say I have done some of things that she has. One of the coolest people I have ever met! These are some of my favorite books of hers,  "Nineteen Minutes" is about a high school shooting by a disgruntled teen. "The Pact" is about suiside and the aftermath. and "My Sisters Keeper" Is about a a girl who was born to keep her sick sister alive (the movie for this comes out in June). I highly suggest these or any of her other books to read if you want to pass some time. Enjoy!

Best Birthday Ever

So this is the first birthday that me and Landon have celebrated together and so after Landon heard about my past less amazing birthdays he decided to give me the ultimate birthday ever and he sure did! It started a week before my actual birthday and his family had us over for dinner and his dad made his famous ribs, my favorite! his grandparents gave me a pot and pan set and his mom and sister gave me a clock.  He took me out on different dates during the week. On Friday night after getting home we were getting in bed and I was fluffing my pillows and low and behold under my pillow was a card, I picked it up and hidden under it was my ipod! One I had been hinting for to landon for weeks! Total surprise! I was so excited I stayed up for hours playing with my new toy!  On saturday we really celebrated we went up and ate at the Cheesecake factory...SO GOOD! Then we went walking around the mall and Landon bought me a new pair of high heels that I wanted. After that we went to the gateway to the Apple store to buy fun stuff for my new toy, we got a screen protector a little cover for it and my fun red case for it!On my acctual birthday sunday (the superbowl we went to my parents house and celebrated with lots of food, fun and cake! I had so much fun spending the week with friends and all my family. But Landon did not leave it at that. Another one of my birthday presents was passes to go snowboarding! Landon had never been so it was a big step for him to promise me a trip.
So a week later we went up to Brighton for a fun fil
led time of night boarding! We invited my sister a long and had a great time teaching Landon the basics and getting a good laugh at him falling time after time! After awhile he started getting the hang of it and we started up the lift and by the end of the night we were on the big kids lift flying down the mountain!

On top of everything Landon did for my Birthday we also got to celebrate Valentines day I spent
all morning mastering the art of making heart shaped pancakes, Landon got me flowers and we got to play in the snow for awhile before we went out and about around town Landon had a surprise
for me and took me to a furniture store in Provo that I like and told me that I could pick out a couch! I had been dying for a new couch seeing that the one in our apartment is balancing on some of my old text books....needless to say I was very excited  and loved it. We finally found one we both liked and that Landon was able to haggle for a good price and bought it!
Needless to say I have an amazing Husband and I love him so much Im so lucky to have someone like him in my life to keep each day new and exciting! This was the best birthday/week/month ever...Landon is going to have a tough time topping this next year!

House to Home

So for the longest time I have been dying to decorate our new apartment. Landon knowing my itch to decorate got me a few things for christmas that I had been eyeing. Due to my supreme capablility of procrastination and business It has taken till now to finally get pictures printed and put in to the frames so that we could hang them up. But the final product is amazing!
It was a fight to get all the pictures the same height on the wall, getting the ribbon tied right. Me and Landon rehung all of the pictures a few time to get them right. Eventually after time were going to start replacing our wedding pictures with pictures of us through out the years and even
longer out in to the future family pictures and pictures of kids.
Also for christmas my parents gave Landon and I a Greg Olsen print called "Walk with Me" that I had been pining over for quite sometime. and now along with our wedding pictures its on the wall and I could not be happier. So our little apartment is starting to come together and be a great place to come home to. Me and Landon could not be happier!

Financial Aid is run by the Devil

So I have decided that the finacial aid department at Utah is run by the devil....or at least by someone who gets a kick out of whatching me run around with my head cut off trying to do everything he asks. This all starts out a few months ago when I fill out my paperwork to get aid for the spring semester. Easy process...not so much. I thought everything would be processed in time for tuition to be paid but I was mistaken.
A week before tuition was due I decied I will call up to the financial aid office to see what was going on. As it turns out because I got married during the school year I am applying for, for aid my file is on review...which means I have to turn in a copy of my marriage licence and mine and landons tax returnes....Not so hard, right...WRONG! Turns out I managed to loose our marriage licence in the process of changing my last name, and my wonderful dad who did all my taxes misplaced my tax papers. Trip to the Provo court houses FUN! I went to get a copy of my marriage licence but the computers were down which I did not find out until after I sat there for 30 min, I now get to come back another day. Now on to the IRS office, where I find out that getting a copy of a tax return costs $60 bucks and takes 6 weeks, I dont have that long. Come to find out you can submitt a transcript of you tax return with something called a summery of wage report. YAY a break. So after going back and getting my marriage licence I fax all of these papers to the financial aid department in hopes to resolve all these problems.
NOPE...So its been about a month for all this running around to go down, so I call the aid office to see what is happening only to find out I am going to have to fill out another stupid paper because aparently my taxes are off by TWO DOLLARS!!! Think im kidding, think again, two dollars is a serious thing!!! So I take this new paper to my dad in hopes he can help me find out what is wrong. Well my dad stands by his tax filling capablitities and he ends up finding my tax return that I needed in the first place. Turns out that by some stupid rounding issue with my income is how they came up with the two dollars difference.
So now I have faxed up my original tax return in hopes everything will finaly work out and I will be able to get money to pay for the rest of my tuition. You would think I was trying to borrow money to build a bomb or something. Never underestimate the complexity of financial aid office and the US government...the devil is in there somewhere.

New Hobby

So as I have noticed you are not a cool married person unless you have a blog...as told to me by one of my married friends. So here I am attempting something new. I have never been really good and writing down events in my life but now that me and Landon are married I feel more inclined to try. So blogging is going to be my new hobby in hopes it will keep me motivated to take more picture and write things down. Good luck to me!!
